Who is a land survey craftsman?
A land survey craftsman is a craftsperson or a worker skilled in land survey or a closely related field. Land can be defined as a portion of earth’s surface that is not covered by water. Survey is measuring and recording measurements of an area of land including its features with an aim of preparing a plan or map for various uses. Land survey is a technique that is used to take land measurements, points, elevations, features and boundaries to assist in preparing maps and plans for various uses such as; title issuance, construction and engineering among other uses. Under the guidance of senior land surveyors, land survey craftsmen assist in carrying out various land surveys to locate land boundaries, structures and other features located on specific parcels of land among other duties.

Minimum admission requirements

  1. A mean grade of D (Plain) and above in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination or its equivalent;
  2. Artisan certificate/ completion of KNQF level 4
  3. Or other approved qualification

Training & Study options
If you meet the above minimum admission requirements, you can proceed to a Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) college and enroll for a relevant craft certificate course. Craft courses are also offered within Vocational Training Centers (VTCs) within your region.
